Locko Road

Dated: 1987
Taken by: Guy Brighouse

These fields on the West side of the village all have fairly high ridges and furrows.  It is thought that they were ued for strip farming befre the Enclosures Actof the late 1700s.  A strip was 220 yards long an 22 yards wide; a furrow long (furlong): a distance - 220 yards - a pair of oxon could pull a plough without a rest.
