What looks like a standard 5-plank open wagon is actually a tank wagon for carrying chloride of iron liquor to the colour works of Leech, Neal & Co. in Spondon. The tank was built inside the wagon body and featured a circular earthenware manhole and lid. The wagon was built by Charles Roberts & Co., Horbury Junction near Wakefield and delivered direct to Johnson & Nephew's wire works at Ambergate for loading. Chloride of iron liquor was a by-product of the wire production. Livery was red body, black ironwork, white letters with black shading.
