Memories of 3 Nonagenarian Ladies of Spondon

This is a recording of the memories of 3 nonagenarian Ladies who were born and raised in Spondon and our grateful thanks to the participants.

They reflect on  life in their early childhood, places they knew and played and a way of life long since gone.

There are twelve extracts from a total of 45 minutes of recording and separated into natural points in the conversation.

Section 1: Origins

In which the ladies discuss their origins in Spondon; recall ‘Shanty Town’ a complex of workmen’s huts used by the builders of Celanese; playing on the canal side; people and social events of the village.
