Vernon Arms outing to Repton, late 20s/early 30s
Regulars from the Vernon Arms are pictured on a day out in Repton around the late 20s / early 30s.
Can you fill in any of the missing names from the photograph?
This is surely not the Vernon Arms, but more likely the Malt Shovel with St Werbugh's Church in the background? There never has been a church at the back of the Vernon Arms to my knowledge. I lived at old 5 Locko Road in the 1960s, and the Vernon was my Dad's local!
I've checked images on the internet, and I think it is more likely to be St Wystan's Church in Repton, and the photograph was taken when they arrived at Repton. Thank you for getting in touch.
