Sitwell Street

Dated: 1986
Taken by: Guy Brighouse

The village Hall and the Library (on the right) on the site of the Old Hall.  In early to mid 1800s Miss Sitwell lived here, hence, possibly, Sitwell Street.  The Sitwells were a very old Derbyshire family.  Their family house was in Smalley.  The family was related to the Sacheverel/Sitwells of Renishaw Hall, near Bolsover.
