Three villagers named as L-R Freddy Shaw, Joey Clewes and Abraham Allen. No other details with the photo but from the 1911 Census:- Frederick Shaw was then 38 years old, single, occupation labourer, residing at No.1 Gladstone Road; Joseph Clewes was aged 72, farmer, residing on Sitwell Street; and Abraham Allen was aged 69, widower, occupation slotting m/c hand at the Midland Railway loco department then living at No.11 Gladstone Road. In the 1921 Census Abraham was living with his widowed daughter Mary Painter and family at 14 Coxon Street aged 79. Later newspaper reports record that he died on 6April1930 and was buried in Spondon Cemetery. This photo courtesy of Pam Summers (nèe Cope).
