This photograph ws taken in
This photograph ws taken in the WI hut in Merchant Avenue - clearly it was a cake competition. The lady with glasses was called Hilda(surname forgotten),because everyone called her by her Christian name, who was very friendly with Bessie Smith. These two people would go to all sorts of activites together I remember them both at woodwork and it was probably between 1961 and 1963 as it was 1961 when our family moved into the village and before I left home in October 1964. I think the lady to her left is Mrs Jessica Elkes one time President of the WI
The lady referred to as Hilda
The lady referred to as Hilda I believe to be Hilda Tollson? on her left is my Aunt Sarah Grimwood nee Stevens and on her left is my mother Phyllis Silkstone nee Stevens.
